ROUND TABLE ON “FOOD SECURITY AS A FACTOR OF ENSURING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN»
On November 23rd, 2020, at 15:00, the international round table «Food security as a factor in ensuring sustainable development of the Republic of Kazakhstan» was held at «Turan» University. The event was organized online on the Google Meet platform by the “World and National Economy” department, with the assistance of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.
The round table was aimed at discussing the problems and prospects of food security in an emergency situation caused by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses and consumers around the world are experiencing the negative effects of quarantine restrictions, trade barriers, and other factors.
Representatives of various domestic and foreign organizations, as well as students and employees of the “Turan” University were invited to discuss the issue under study, among them: Ismagulov R.B. – director of “Trade Marketing Solutions” LLP; Muratov U.M. – director of “MOBART” LLP; Esmurzaeva L.K., head of consumer lending at “Eurasian Bank” JSC; Tess Dietrich, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Engineering and Economic Sciences of the Kazakh-German University, Doctor of Economics, Professor (Germany, Dresden); Arupov A.A. – Doctor of Economics, Professor, Director of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations; Chakeyeva K.S. – Candidate of Technical Sciences, associate Professor; Zharylkasyn Zh.K. – senior lecturer of “Turan” University; Salibekova P.K. – PhD student of “Turan” University; Kuandykova M.B. – PhD student of “Turan” University; Irktitbaeva A.B. – senior lecturer of “Turan” University and others.
As a result of the round table, a resolution to strengthen research work within the initiative theme of the department, the relationship with the business community and the involvement of practitioners in the development of educational programs “World Economy” and “Economy” was adopted.
