Intensive workshop week of the department «Regional Studies and International Relations»
Despite the fact that many traditional scientific and practical conferences have stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic, the student club «Diplomat», whuch works in the department of regional studies and international relations at Turan University, held a special week of intensive seminars with experienced experts and practitioners in late September and the first decades of October. The event was attended by international experts working in Belgium, Korea, Turkey, as well as experts from leading think tanks in Kazakhstan. As a result of an intensive workshop, students not only learned the basics of applying theoretical knowledge in practice, but also helped determine their furhter specialization.
The event was very useful and informative for students. Each expert shared their professional experience. In particular, the IMEP expert Sarabekov Zhumabek shared his experience as a researcher in research institutes.A researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, Ahmad Wali Ahmad Yar, told how he started his scientific journey from Afghanistan through Kazakhstan to Europe and about the «Model of the UN». PhD scholar Aliya Bastaubayeva shared her experience of studying in Korea and showed how to write a scientific paper correctly. Researcher from ANKASAM, Turkey PhD Dinmuhammed Ametbek acquainted with the work of the research fellow abroad. Akmaral Sman, a specialist in the natural resources management project of the UN agricultural organization, described working in international organizations and how to start a career in IGOs. Consultant of the world Bank project «Climate change adaptation and mitigation program for the Aral sea basin» Tazhimuratova Malika compared the work in the Foreign Ministry and international organizations. Expert of the Institute of Asian studies Sultanmuratov Nurridin compared the differences between American and domestic think tanks.
